Rockville Centre man pleads guilty to disorderly conduct in 2011 case
A man charged in August 2011 with beating up his wife's parents at his Rockville Centre home has pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, authorities said.
The two counts of second-degree assault against William Verdi were dismissed in March 2012 in return for his plea to the lesser charge, a one-year conditional discharge and a two-year order of protection against him, a Nassau court clerk official confirmed.
Verdi got into an argument with his in-laws at his house, the Rockville Centre police report said.
Court papers had said his mother-in-law was hospitalized with three broken ribs and a fractured elbow and his father-in-law suffered a broken rib. But the police report did not mention any injuries.
It said Verdi's wife, Christine, called police when the argument became heated, and after officers arrived, the in-laws "refused any further police action and left [the] scene," the officer wrote.
"My husband has already lost some job opportunities," Christine Verdi said Thursday. "Myself and our two young children, we're suffering right now."
