Rockville Centre school district
VOTING
7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at South Side High School.
THE BUDGET
The district proposes a $107,078,660 budget for 2015-16, a 3.82 percent increase from the current $103,136,754. The local tax levy would rise 2.79 percent, from $88,750,000 to $91,231,906. The increase is within the state's tax-cap limit of 2.81 percent, so a simple majority vote is needed to approve the budget. School taxes paid on the average single-family home would rise 1.77 percent, from $11,641 to $11,847. The proposed budget includes a 1.5 percent contractual salary increase for teachers plus step increases, which vary, the district said. It adds the equivalent of 6.1 full-time staff positions. Current programs are maintained.
