Rockville Centre schools lockdown over
Schools in Rockville Centre were locked down as a precautionary measure for about two hours Friday after village police reported they were searching for a home invasion suspect, Schools Superintendent William Johnson said.
Johnson said he ordered the lockdown at about 11 a.m. and that students were kept indoors during the lunch period. He said the lockdown was lifted shortly after 1 p.m. and dismissal went on as usual Friday afternoon.
A spokesman for the Rockville Centre Police Department said officers had been looking for a burglary suspect in the area of Maple and Powell avenues, but that no arrest had been made.
