A Rockville Centre woman faces a drunken-driving charge after smashing the front end of her car Tuesday on the Southern State Parkway in Franklin Square, State Police said.

A trooper responding to a report of a one-vehicle accident eastbound on the parkway near the Franklin Avenue exit found a Honda with front-end damage at about 6:17 a.m., according to a news release.

While interviewing the driver, Jacqueline Drake, 39, troopers detected a "strong odor of an alcoholic beverage," the release said.

Drake failed sobriety tests and was arrested on charges of DWI and traffic violations, police said.

She provided a breath-analyzer reading of 0.17 percent and is scheduled to appear March 9 in First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
