A Ronkonkoma man was killed in a three-vehicle accident on the Southern State Parkway in Baldwin early Sunday, State Police said.

The man was thrown from his motorcycle and struck by a taxi, police said.

The victim was identified by police as Elliot Estrada, 26. There were no other injuries, police said.

According to a State Police news release, the fatal collision occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on the eastbound parkway east of Exit 20, Grand Avenue.

Police said Estrada’s motorcycle “collided with the rear” of a 2012 Hyundai Elantra, after which he was ejected onto the roadway and struck by a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria taxi. Estrada was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The eastbound lanes were closed for more than six hours after the collision.

A woman reached by phone at the home of Estrada’s father, also named Elliot Estrada, said through tears, “He was a really good kid and he loved his family.” The woman, who did not identify herself, said the younger Elliot had a 5-year-old son.

Police did not release the names of the drivers of the Hyundai and the taxi, and said the investigation was continuing. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call State Police at 631-756-3300.
