Roosevelt man electrocuted installing gutters in Plainview
A 21-year-old worker in Plainview was electrocuted Friday when an aluminum extension ladder he was carrying came in contact with overhead high-power wires, Nassau County police said.
Darwin Antonio Samayoa, of Roosevelt, was hired to install gutters at a home being built at 81 Morton Blvd. "He was carrying an aluminum ladder on uneven ground," Homicide Squad Det. Sgt. Greg Quinn said Saturday.
"He struck a high-powered electric LIPA wire . . . Poor guy didn't even know what hit him."
Samayoa, who was working for subcontractor AM Home Improvement, was taken to Plainview Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Quinn said detectives have ruled Samayoa's death to be accidental.
Relatives could not immediately be reached Saturday.
