<a href="/topics//Nassau_County,_NY">Nassau</a> County homicide detectives have extradited a suspect who had fled to <a href="/topics//New_Jersey">New Jersey</a>, charging him with second-degree murder in a death that took place last month during an argument behind a deli in Roosevelt, police said. 
 Alcides Diaz-Fernandez, 32, of 88 Bennett Ave., Roosevelt, faces arraignment on a second-degree murder charge Thursday in First District Court in <a href="/topics//Hempstead,_NY">Hempstead</a>. 
 Detectives say he killed Jose <a href="/topics//Jose_Romero">Romero</a>, 31, who suffered "cuts and lacerations" in the altercation at 7:10 p.m. June 3. Romero was taken that night to <a href="/topics//Nassau_University_Medical_Center">Nassau University Medical Center</a> in <a href="/topics//East_Meadow,_NY">East Meadow</a> where he was pronounced dead two hours later. 
 The <a href="/topics//Nassau_County,_NY">Nassau</a> Homicide Squad, the U.S. Marshal's <a href="/topics//New_York_(state)">New York</a>-<a href="/topics//New_Jersey">New Jersey</a> Task Force and a Homeland Security Investigations Unit worked together in the arrest of Diaz-Fernandez in Essex County, N.J., police said.
