Roosevelt teen held in stabbing, police say
A 17-year-old from Roosevelt was in custody Monday morning, charged with stabbing another man three times during an argument Saturday, police said.
Eric Amaya, of 87 Smith St., was arrested Sunday on Babylon Turnpike in Roosevelt and charged with second-degree and third-degree assault, as well as with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
He faces arraignment Monday in First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
Nassau County police said Amaya was involved in "a physical altercation" with a 21-year-old man at his home on Smith Street at 2:50 p.m. and during the altercation Amaya stabbed the other man in the back, leg and arm. The victim was transported to a hospital by police ambulance. Police said the injuries were non-life-threatening.
