A man robbed a Hempstead bank on Friday morning, Nassau County police said.

Police said the man went to a Roslyn Savings Bank on Hempstead Turnpike about 9:40 a.m. and gave a note to a teller demanding money.

The teller gave money to the man, who then left the bank, heading west on foot on Hempstead Turnpike, police said.

The man was described as in his 40s, 5-foot-10 to 6 feet, about 200 pounds, bearded and wearing a red, hooded sweatshirt.

There were four employees and five customers in the bank at the time, but no one was injured, police said.
