No injuries were reported when a school bus carrying children lost a rear wheel Thursday morning in Great Neck, Nassau County police said.

The bus lost its driver's side rear wheel on South Middle Neck near Melbourne Road at about 7:30 a.m., a police spokeswoman said.

By the time police arrived, "school age children" had been removed, presumably to another bus, the spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman said police did not know how many children were aboard the bus when the wheel came off.
