Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a boat moored behind an abandoned home in Seaford late Wednesday, Nassau County police said.

The boat was behind a home near the intersection of Shore Road and Bay Place.

The fire was reported at 10:35 p.m.

Firefighters from the Wantagh Fire Department responded to the scene. Photos show that a Freeport Fire Department boat also responded. The fire was extinguished by about 11 p.m.

Police said the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s Office and Arson / Bomb Squad detectives were investigating the cause of the fire.
