Nassau police have identified the two motorists who died Sunday in separate crashes on the South Shore.
Michael Bozzo, 49, of Wantagh, was riding a northbound motorcycle on Wantagh Avenue — just blocks from his home — when it collided with a Ford F150 pickup truck near the intersection of Lea Ann Terrace at 1:41 p.m., police said.
Bozzo was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead by a physician shortly after 2 p.m., officials said. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene.
Frederic Bozzo of Saratoga said his brother grew up in Franklin Square, worked for PSEG, and was married with two sons, ages 14 and 11.
"He was a really loving father who really took care of his kids and his beautiful home and was just a really nice person," Frederic Bozzo said. "He was very involved with everything with the kids and his wife. People are stopping by every five minutes. So many people are coming by."
In the other fatal crash, Xavier Pena, 23, of Valley Stream, was a passenger in a vehicle that hit a guard rail and struck a tree south of Exit 1E on the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway in Seaford shortly before 8 a.m. Sunday, authorities said.
Pena suffered severe trauma and was pronounced dead by a hospital physician at 8:43 a.m., police said. The male driver of the vehicle was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition, police said.
Pena's family members did not respond to requests for comment.
Police are investigating both crashes.
