The southbound Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway reopened Wednesday night after it was temporarily closed due to a truck fire on the right shoulder, Nassau police said.

Flames were consuming a large trailer behind a pickup truck at Exit 7, Hempstead Turnpike.

Police said it appeared the trailer was the type used by landscapers.

The fire started before 5:28 p.m., according to the state Transportation Department's website.

The expressway reopened at 7 p.m.
