Search in Bayville waters ends after 911 call

A search was under way in Bayville waters Friday night in response to a 911 caller who said they thought they'd seen a parachute fall into the water, police said.

A police marine bureau boat, a helicopter and other emergency units began a search about 8:30 p.m., officials said, but by 9:30 p.m., no person or parachute had been found.

By 10:30 p.m. police abandoned the search and declared the report unfounded.
