Seven people have been taken to hospitals after a seven-car accident in Glen Head shut down southbound Glen Cove Road, Nassau police said.

None of the injuries are life threatening, police said.

The cause of the accident was not immediately known, police said, but it happened about 3:30 p.m. on Glen Cove Road by Glen Head Road, police said.

One person had to be extricated from a car, police said.

The road was reopened by shortly before 6 p.m., police said.

Sea Cliff and Glenwood fire departments and Nassau police ambulances responded, police said.
