Severe thunderstorm watch for Long Island
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect on Long Island until 8 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
"Some storms could be severe, with large hail and damaging winds," the agency said on its website.
The chance of precipitation is 70 percent, forecasters said.
