In the four component elementary school districts, in designated district polling locations: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Elmont; 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Floral Park-Bellerose; 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Franklin Square; and 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. in New Hyde Park-Garden City Park.

THE BUDGET

The district proposes a $178,806,581 budget for 2015-16, a 2 percent increase from the current $175,309,061. The local tax levy would increase 1.88 percent, from $135,912,301 to $138,473,177.

This increase is equal to the state's tax-cap limit of 1.88 percent, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget. Taxes on the average single-family home would increase 1.95 percent, from $3,257.16 to $3,320.74.

The proposed budget would fund a 2.5 percent salary increase for teachers, four new teachers and the restoration of business chairmen or chairwomen.
