ShotSpotter alerts cops to shots fired in Uniondale
Police responding to a ShotSpotter alert found five shell casings in the driveway of a Uniondale home Thursday.
A witness told officers she had "observed three males, with no further description, running from the scene," Nassau County police said.
Police are investigating.
The incident occurred on Walter Street at about 7:15 p.m., police said. It was not clear if the bullets struck anything.
ShotSpotter, which alerted police to the shooting, is the department's gunshot detection system.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
