A small craft advisory is in effect for Long Island waters, the National Weather Service said in its Monday marine report.

The advisory runs from Monday afternoon to Tuesday afternoon, covering Moriches Inlet to Montauk Point, Fire Island Inlet to Moriches Inlet and Sandy Hook, New Jersey, to Fire Island Inlet, the service's Upton office said.

There's also a high risk for rip currents Monday at Long Island's ocean beaches; an advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. through the evening hours, the service said.
