Nassau issues 570 tickets for traffic violations during storm
Snow plow truck drivers and other motorists were issued summonses — 570 tickets in total — for traffic violations during the nor’easter on Wednesday and Thursday, Nassau police said.
Special attention was given to snow plows on secondary roads to ensure they did not dump snow onto highways, creating a hazard and blocking traffic, police said.
Of the 43 summonses issued to snow plow operators, 30 were for unloading snow on a roadway, police said. The fine is $200 and the surcharge is $88, according to the county’s website.
Suffolk police said its summonses numbers were not readily available Friday.
