Traffic on the Southern State Parkway was snarled after an overturned vehicle near the Meadowbrook Parkway closed the eastbound lanes. (Sept. 1, 2010) Credit: Traffic cam screengrab

The eastbound Southern State Parkway was closed for about a half-hour Wednesday morning after a car overturned near Exit 23, the exit for Meadowbrook Road in North Merrick, State Police said.

The single-car accident happened at 7:09 a.m. All eastbound lanes were closed until 7:39 a.m., police said.

One person who was injured in the crash was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow with what police called "nonlife-threatening injuries." Additional information was not immediately available.
