A North Baldwin woman died after she lost control of her van and was thrown from the vehicle on the Southern State Parkway in Malverne early Friday morning, State Police said.

Ashlee Tessono, 28, was driving a 2005 Scion  east on the Southern State Parkway west of Exit 17S when she lost control of the van, which left the roadway and hit a tree, ejecting her and overturning the van, State Police said in a news release.

Tessono was taken to Nassau University Medical Center where she died of her injuries, State Police said.

The crash closed two lanes of the eastbound Southern State Parkway between Exit 15 and Exit 17S for more than three hours Friday, State Police said.

State police said the single-vehicle crash occurred at 5:47 a.m. on the four-lane roadway west of Exit 17S, the exit for Hempstead Avenue. Two lanes remained open between Exit 15, North Corona Avenue, and Exit 17S, while police conducted an investigation. All lanes were reopened about 9 a.m., police said.
