Long Island's top tax scofflaws account for more than $82 million in unpaid state taxes, according to the state's lists of the top 500 delinquent taxpayers.

The lists, which compile the top 250 individual and businesses behind on their taxes, are viewable at nystax.gov.

The 33 Nassau individuals on the list owe $31.2 million in back taxes while the 21 people from Suffolk owe $12.8 million. The 22 Nassau businesses listed owe $22.4 million and the 30 Suffolk businesses owe $15.7 million.

The move by the state Department of Taxation and Finance is part of an effort to recoup some of the more than $14 billion owed to New York State.

Department spokesman Brad Maione said the list will be updated monthly.

The state lists scofflaws by name and county, but does not provide further identifying information.

The state's top delinquent taxpayer is former Scores strip club owner Irving Bilzinsky, who owes $15.8 million. Bilzinsky, of Brooklyn, could not be reached Sunday.
