A Queens man had a loaded handgun and marijuana when he stopped Sunday at a checkpoint on the Meadowbrook State Parkway in East Meadow, State Police said.

Tamel Haynes, 19, faces two felony charges of criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana after he pulled his BMW into a road check near Hempstead Turnpike at about 12 a.m., police said.

Troopers interviewing Haynes said they detected an odor of marijuana coming from the car. In checking the vehicle, police found a small amount of marijuana and the loaded handgun, according to a news release.

Haynes' arraignment information in First District Court in Hempstead was not immediately available.
