A motorist and two passengers were killed early Sunday in North Hempstead after their vehicle left the Northern State Parkway, struck multiple trees and became engulfed in flames, according to the State Police. 

Police said the vehicle was traveling east about 5 a.m. on the Northern State near Exit 30 in the Town of North Hempstead when it left the roadway. It hit several trees near the south shoulder before igniting. 

The State Police were withholding the identities of the victims pending notification of their relatives.

The crash was under investigation and State Police asked that anyone with information call 631-756-3300.
