A Hempstead man fell from a bucket truck and died Tuesday morning as he was trimming a tree in Syosset, Nassau police said.

Police said Stephan Wright, 53, fell approximately 27 feet. He was not wearing protective gear or a harness when he hit the ground at around 10:15 a.m., police said.

Wright was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead by emergency room staff, police said.

He was employed by A1 Tree and Shrub Service Inc., of Freeport.

A spokeswoman from the police department said Wright’s co-worker called 911 to report the fall.

No one else was hurt.

OSHA was notified about the accident and is investigating safety issues, police said.
