We got the wind, but it turned out the rain wasn't as bad as expected.

Forecasters had predicted 1 to 3 inches of rain in the storm that moved in Thursday. But as of Friday morning, Lynbrook had the highest total in Nassau with 1.19 inches, while in Suffolk, totals ranged from .22 inches in Shirley to 1.01 inches in Northport, the National Weather Service said.

The afternoon will be mostly sunny with a high near 51, and though clouds are expected Friday night, forecasters are calling for partly sunny skies Saturday -- with a high temperature near 50 degrees. Sunny skies and a high near 50 are expected again on Sunday.

At LaGuardia Airport, the weather service said 2.05 inches had fallen, and in Central Park, 1.85 inches of rain had fallen.

The weather service said winds on the Island were fierce late Thursday during the buildup to the storm, with Long Island-MacArthur Airport recording wind gusts as high as 47 mph.

Gusts of 44 mph were recorded at Republic Airport in East Farmingdale, 43 mph in Shinnecock Inlet, 53 mph at LaGuardia and 41 mph at Kennedy.
