Wednesday morning's commuters are likely to face "almost a carbon copy" of Tuesday morning's dense fog that caused flight delays and dangerous driving conditions, said Joey Picca, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Upton.

At 4:46 a.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued a dense-fog advisory, lifted just after 11 a.m., warning drivers: "Sudden drastic changes in visibility due to dense fog. Slow down. Leave plenty of room between you and other vehicles -- and keep your headlights on the low-beam setting."

The fog advisory was in effect for Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, the weather service said.

Forecasters said that Tuesday afternoon is expected to be partly sunny with temperatures soaring into the mid-to-upper 60s -- a welcome start to spring, which officially began at 1:14 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Farmer's Almanac.

There's a slight chance of showers, and possibly thunderstorms, Thursday on Long Island, the weather service said. Sunny skies are expected Friday with mostly sunny skies expected Saturday, too.
