Sunrise Highway in Massapequa is open after being briefly closed in both directions Tuesday evening after a multiple-car accident that caused one vehicle to erupt in flames, officials said.

Massapequa Fire Chief Peter Anglim said the fire was extinguished in about five minutes, and the roadway, closed at Lake Shore Drive at about 6:30 p.m., was reopened after about 25 minutes.

One person suffered a minor injury, Anglim said, but refused medical attention.
