A 16-year-old burglary suspect turned himself in to Nassau County police Monday, less than 24 hours after police said he was confronted by a homeowner inside a house he was robbing in Elmont.

Police said Rohed Naheem surrendered at the Fifth Precinct after an investigation led them to target him for the burglary at 3:50 a.m. Monday.

Police said Naheem entered a home through a basement window and placed items he'd taken into a laundry bag. When he was confronted by the homeowner, he ran away.

Naheem was charged with second-degree burglary and was scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
