Suspect arrested in January iPhone robbery
A Roosevelt man has been arrested on charges he stole a woman's iPhone as she left a deli in January, Nassau County police said Tuesday.
Tyrell J. Edwards, 22, of 55 Henry St., was arrested on charges of third-degree robbery and is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
Police said Edwards approached a woman, 20, after she left the Stop and Go Deli at 425 Nassau Rd. in Roosevelt at about 6:15 p.m. Jan. 6.
Edwards engaged the woman in conversation as she walked on West Roosevelt Avenue, then he grabbed her iPhone from her hand, police said.
After a short struggle, the suspect ran off west on West Roosevelt Avenue, police said.
No injuries were reported, police said.
