Suspect tried to steal donation boxes from Farmingdale mosque, police say

Nassau police are searching for a man seen on surveillance video who tried to take donation boxes mounted on a wall at a mosque in Farmingdale on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015. Nassau County detectives said Monday that they are looking for a suspect who tried to take donation boxes from a Farmingdale mosque.
A man entered Masjid Bilal Mosque at 425 Fulton St. through an unlocked rear window at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday, police said.
He tried to remove two mounted donation boxes from a wall and then left through a glass door. Police said the suspect did not get any proceeds.
Second Squad detectives released a photograph of the suspect taken from video surveillance at the mosque. He is described as about 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds.
