He tried to rob the Chinese food deliveryman, punching him and demanding cash, Nassau County police said.

But when the deliveryman screamed during the attempted robbery Monday night in Baldwin, the would-be robber fled.

Now police are searching for him and asking for assistance catching him.

The incident occurred on McKenna Avenue just before 9:30 p.m. Monday, police said.

It was then that the 25-year-old victim was attacked, punched in the head about five times, police said.

Police said the victim screamed, scaring off the attacker, who fled into a car investigators said may be a green four-door Honda Accord with dark, tinted windows.

The car drove off northbound on Milburn Avenue, police said.

The robber got no money.

The victim declined medical assistance, police said.

Investigators asking anyone with information about the thwarted robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
