Nassau police are searching for a gunman who they say held up a Bellmore convenience store on Saturday afternoon.

Police said the robbery took place at about 5:47 p.m. at Cool Stop Smoke and Convenience on Merrick Road.

A man brandishing a handgun entered the store and demanded cash from the 33-year-old employee, police said. After taking the money, police said, the man fled east on Eastern Avenue in a light blue Mazda. The employee was not injured.

Police described the man as 18 to 19 years old, and wearing dark pants, a black jacket with a white logo on the front, a black baseball cap, a black hood and white gloves. He also wore a dark handkerchief that covered his face.

Police ask anyone with information on this case to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
