Nassau County police are looking for the man responsible for robbing a woman outside an Elmont cellphone store Friday night.

Police said the suspect approached the 25-year-old victim at 7:40 p.m. as she was leaving the Metro PCS store at 1789 Dutch Broadway, threatening her with a knife, saying "I have a knife, if you don't give me your bag, I'll stab you."

The suspect grabbed her pocketbook and after a brief struggle, removed it from her shoulder.

The victim followed the suspect and told police he was last seen running though the rear yards on Rifton Street.

The suspect was described as being about 5-foot-5, in his 20s, with a thin build and wearing dark jeans, a black sweater, a black hood and a dark knit hat with a white scarf across his face, police said.

The victim refused medical attention at the scene.

Detectives ask anyone with information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
