He got the cash. But not before the video surveillance system at the TD Bank on Peninsula Boulevard in Hempstead managed to get his picture.
Now Nassau County police are asking the public's help in identifying the suspected bank robber in the Yankees cap.
The bank robbery took place inside the Hempstead bank branch at 2:35 p.m. May 3.
Police said the man is believed to be in his 30s, about 5-foot-10 and 250 pounds.
Police said he approached a teller, demanded money, got cash -- and fled the scene.
Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS or the Robbery Squad at 516-573-8040. All calls will remain confidential.
