Suspect sought in Hempstead store robbery
Police are looking for a man with a silver handgun who robbed a Metro PCS store Wednesday evening on Greenwich Street in Hempstead.
No one was injured in the armed robbery, Nassau County police said. It was not clear how much cash was stolen.
Police said the robbery took place at about 7 p.m.
A 22-year-old female employee was alone in the store when she was approached by the armed robber, who wore a gray hooded sweatshirt and carried a silver handgun, police said.
Police said he demanded cash -- and she complied. The robber then fled on foot.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
