First squad detectives are searching for a robber who used a knife Saturday night to steal a pocketbook from a woman in the driveway of her Freeport home, Nassau County police said.

The suspect, a man in his early 20s, approached the woman at about 10:05 p.m., flashing a knife, police said. He grabbed the woman's pocketbook and fled on foot, east on Meadow Lane.

The victim chased the man, who was seen entering an early-model, dark-colored vehicle that police said was waiting for him.

The woman was not injured, but she did lose some personal papers and a blue, Nikon digital camera, police said.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers, 800-244-8477. All callers will remain anonymous.
