Nassau County police are looking for a suspect in the burglary early Tuesday morning of a New Cassel residence.

Detectives said a woman, 28, walked out of her bedroom in her Oliver Avenue home at about 3 a.m. to find an intruder in her living room. The man, who was described as about 6-foot-4 and weighing 160 pounds, escaped through a window and fled on foot, headed west on Oliver Avenue, police said. He was dressed in a black tank top, black sweatpants with a red stripe and black sneakers, and carried a black drawstring backpack, police said. Police said the resident was not injured and that nothing was stolen.

Anyone with information on the burglary is asked to call the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
