Suspects sought in jewelry store robbery
Three men armed with a handgun robbed a jewelry store in Syosset on Tuesday evening, one stealing cash, before fleeing the scene.
Nassau County police said the store was occupied by a male and female employee at the time, but that no customers were present.
No one was injured in the robbery, police said.
Police said the robbery occurred at the Garco Jewelry store on Jericho Turnpike at about 5:20 p.m. Police said the three men entered the store after being buzzed in by a female employee and said that one then pointed a handgun at the woman, while another suspect went to a backroom -- where he confronted the second employee, a man.
It was not clear how much cash was taken. Police said the trio fled eastbound on foot.
One suspect wore a gray flannel shirt and a baseball cap, police said. Another wore a black shirt. The third wore a red Polo baseball cap. Police said all three men had thin builds.
Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
