Three suspects are being sought after an attempted bank robbery in Hempstead and a gunpoint holdup at a branch in Roosevelt, Nassau police said.

Police said a man entered a Bank of America branch at 730 Fulton Ave. in Hempstead shortly before noon Friday and handed a teller a note demanding cash. When the teller stepped back, the suspect fled on foot.

Four employees and one customer were in the bank at the time, and no one was injured.

In an unrelated incident less than an hour later, two men wearing masks entered the Bethpage Federal Credit Union branch at 405 Nassau Rd. in Roosevelt and announced that they were robbing the bank, according to police.

One of the suspects was armed with a handgun. They fled with an unknown amount of cash headed west on Henry Street in a white Toyota Corolla, police said.

There were seven employees and 13 customers present at the time of the robbery. No shots were fired, and no injuries reported, police said.

Anyone with information about either crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
