Suspects sought in robberies in Elmont and Oyster Bay, cops say

Nassau detectives are investigating a pair of robberies in which victims were forced to hand over possessions Friday night, police said.

The first robbery happened at 5:55 p.m. in Elmont when a man who looked about 20 years old approached two 20-year-old men, said he had a gun, and demanded their cellphones, police said. The victims handed over the devices and the robber ran off, police said. No one was hurt.

The second robbery happened about 8 p.m. in Oyster Bay after when four men confronted a 34-year-old male pedestrian on Hamilton Avenue. One of the robbers pulled out a black, semiautomatic handgun, pressed it to the victim's neck, and demanded money, police said.

As the victim started to pull out cash, the armed robber grabbed his shoulder and punched him in the face. The four robbers, all wearing dark clothing and baseball caps, fled in a dark colored, four-door sedan, police said.

They got away with a cellphone and cash, police said.
