Suspects wanted in Valley Stream bank robbery
Nassau County police have asked the public’s help identifying two men who are suspects in a bank robbery in Valley Stream, and investigators released security-camera photographs of the pair. One photo shows a suspect who gave a demand note to a bank employee, and another photo shows the second suspect sitting in a chair inside the TD Bank as a lookout, police said.
The two entered the bank together at about 1:15 p.m. and the first suspect presented a robbery demand note while the second acted as a lookout, a Tuesday police report said.
"Upon completion of the robbery both subjects exited the bank together and were last seen fleeing on foot eastbound on West Merrick Rd.," the report said.
The police did not say how much money the two obtained.
Police described one suspect in the photos as in his early to mid-20s, about 150 pounds, with a black mustache, black ski hat, a thick sweatshirt and one black glove.
Police described the other suspect in the photos as in his early 20s, about 145 pounds, with "a short dark Afro with bleached white 'Mohawk,' " blue-and-green camouflage pants and black shoes.
No vehicle was spotted in connection with the robbery, police said.
The Nassau police robbery squad and the Crime Stoppers agency ask anyone who has information about the identities or whereabouts of the two suspects to make a confidential, free call to the hotline 800-244-TIPS.
