Two 12-inch swastikas were found drawn on an East Meadow sidewalk Saturday near a synagogue and a public middle school, Nassau County police said.

Police said the drawings are being treated as a bias incident. The swastikas, believed to have been made between 8 a.m. and 12:56 p.m., were drawn with chalk at Andrea Road and Sherwood Drive.

The East Meadow Jewish Center and Woodland Middle School are nearby.

The incident took place the day before Sunday's Holocaust Remembrance Day, a time of commemoration of Holocaust victims. There are events scheduled around Long Island.

Detectives ask that anyone with information about the incident call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
