A gasoline tanker making a delivery in Barnum Island caught fire early Friday, but there were no injuries, fire officials said.

“Thankfully, we got there quickly and we were able to contain it. There were no injuries,” Chief James Miotto of the Island Park Fire Department said.

“It did not spread to the service station. The main damage was to the tanker,” Miotto said.

The fire was reported at 4:30 a.m. at the Speedway station at 4295 Austin Blvd., fire officials said.

Miotto said the exact source and cause of the fire was under investigation.
