Taxi driver robbed in Hempstead, police say
A taxi driver was robbed as he sat in his cab in Hempstead on Saturday night, Nassau police said.
Police said the 27-year-old driver for Valley Stream Taxi was parked at 444 Penninsula Blvd. at about 9:10 p.m. when two men approached his car.
One of the men, who was carrying a handgun, opened the back door of the car and got in. The other blocking the front door of the taxi, police said.
The men, who both were wearing dark clothing, grabbed the driver's money and personal belongings, then ran away, police said.
