A New Cassel youth faces a charge of attempted burglary after trying to break into a home, Nassau County police said Friday.

Officers from the Bureau of Special Operations / Critical Incident Rapid Response Team task force arrested Taquize Fountain, 17, of 159 Elizabeth St., at about 10 p.m. Thursday as he walked on Urban Avenue and Broadway in New Cassel, police said.

Fountain tried to break into a home on Roman Avenue at about 5 p.m. Monday, but failed to get past the front locked door and window and ran off, police said.

He is charged with second-degree attempted burglary and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
