Teen pistol-whipped in W. Hempstead attack
Police are searching for four attackers who attempted to rob an 18-year-old man on a West Hempstead street late Monday, then struck him in the head with a handgun before fleeing.
The Chestnut Street incident occurred at 11:50 p.m., Nassau County police said.
The victim suffered a cut to his scalp but was not hospitalized, according to police.
Police said the four attackers, one wearing a baseball hat and a light-colored zip up sweater with a collar, approached the 18-year-old, flashed the gun and demanded the teen empty his pockets.
The teen told the four "he had nothing," police said, and then one of the attackers hit him with the handgun.
The four then fled.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
