A 15-year-old boy was shot in the hand in Hempstead Saturday and was treated at Nassau University Medical Center for his injuries and released, police said Sunday.

His name was not released and no arrests have been made. Police said the shooting occurred at about 5:10 p.m. in the vicinity of Allen Street and South Franklin Street. Police said an investigation is continuing.

They asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-Tips. All calls will remain confidential, they said.
