Nassau County police said they arrested two teenage boys in North Merrick Saturday night after officers saw them try to rob another teen.

Detectives charged Matthew Bezman, 16, of East Meadow, as an adult and a 15-year-old they did not identify because of his age with attempted robbery.

They said officers were watching when the two approached a 17-year-old victim on Merrick Avenue at 11:35 p.m., blocked his path and demanded his belongings. They ran without taking anything when police officers approached but were arrested nearby shortly afterward.

Bezman was scheduled to be arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead. The unidentified youth is scheduled for an Oct. 10 arraignment in Family Court.
